Which Cirque du Soleil show should I see?
The five shows running now
'O' at Bellagio is the aquatic one, performed in and above a 1.5-million-gallon pool by synchronized swimmers, divers and acrobats. It is the show people picture when they picture Cirque in Vegas, and it is usually the hardest ticket of the five.
Mystère at Treasure Island is the original Vegas Cirque show and the most straightforwardly acrobatic — taiko drums, aerial straps, the red-bouncing-baby opener. It is the one most often recommended for a first Cirque show and for families, because it needs no setup and has no adult content.
KÀ at MGM Grand is the story-driven one, built around a stage that tilts, rotates and disappears over an open pit. If the engineering of a theatre interests you as much as the performers, this is the one to see.
Michael Jackson ONE at Mandalay Bay is the music show — his catalogue re-cut for a dance and acrobatic company, in a theatre wired for it. Worth choosing over the others mainly if you actually want to hear the songs.
Mad Apple at New York-New York is the newest and the odd one out: an adults-only night of comedy, stand-up, magic and a live band, with a bar open on stage before the show. It is far less 'Cirque' than the other four, which is either the appeal or the reason to skip it.
Choosing the right show
If you only see one and want the classic Cirque spectacle: 'O'. If you are bringing children, or it is your first Cirque show: Mystère. If you want a plot and mechanical stagecraft: KÀ. If you are a Michael Jackson fan: ONE. If you want an adults-only comedy night rather than a circus: Mad Apple.
Two practical notes that decide it as often as theme does. Prices differ sharply between the five and move by date and seat section, so check current pricing for your actual dates before committing to one on theme alone. And front rows at 'O' are a splash zone — if you would rather stay dry, sit further back.
Shows you may still see recommended that have closed
Older Vegas guides still list Cirque shows that no longer exist, so check the date on anything you read. The Beatles LOVE closed in July 2024 when The Mirage itself closed — the resort is being rebuilt as a Hard Rock property. Zumanity and R.U.N both closed in 2020 and did not return.
If a page recommends any of those three, it has not been updated in at least two years, and its advice about the remaining shows is likely just as old.
