Why hasn't the Las Vegas Monorail been extended to the airport?

The Las Vegas Monorail currently does not extend to Harry Reid International Airport due to logistical and financial challenges, despite the airport's proximity to the Strip.

Logistical Challenges

Extending the monorail to the airport would require significant infrastructure changes and investment. The existing monorail line runs along the east side of the Strip, behind the resorts, and connecting it to the airport would involve navigating complex urban planning and construction issues.

Financial Considerations

Funding for such an extension would need to come from various sources, including government and private investments. The cost of extending the monorail, combined with the potential ridership and revenue, may not have justified the project in the eyes of decision-makers.

Current Transportation Options

While the monorail does not reach the airport, visitors can use rideshare services, taxis, shuttles, or hotel limousines for transportation from Harry Reid International Airport to the Strip. Taxis and rideshares are the most common choices, providing direct access to hotels and attractions.
