Getting Around Las Vegas: Transportation Options
Airport Transportation
Harry Reid International Airport (LAS) is conveniently located about 1.5 to 5 miles from the Strip. You can choose from rideshare services like Uber and Lyft, taxis, shuttles, or hotel limousines. Taxis operate on a metered basis, so it's advisable to ask the driver to take the freeway or tunnel to avoid potential detours.
Public Transit
The Las Vegas Monorail runs along the east side of the Strip from MGM Grand to Sahara. While it's a fast option for certain east-side trips, it doesn't reach the airport and the stations are a bit distant from the Strip sidewalks. Alternatively, the Deuce is a double-decker bus that runs the length of the Strip and to Downtown, offering a budget-friendly but slower option due to traffic. The SDX (Strip & Downtown Express) makes fewer stops for faster service.
Walking the Strip
Walking is a popular way to experience the Strip, but be prepared for the distances and heat, especially in summer. Pedestrian bridges cross major intersections, so wear comfortable shoes and stay hydrated.
Rental Cars
Most visitors staying on the Strip find that a rental car is unnecessary, as most attractions are within walking distance or accessible via public transit. However, if you're planning day trips to places like the Grand Canyon or Hoover Dam, a rental car can be useful. Keep in mind that parking fees may apply at resorts.
