✅ Best bet

Banker at 1.06% (even after the standard 5% commission on wins). It is the lowest-edge bet in baccarat and one of the best on the floor. Player is close behind at 1.24%.

🚫 Sucker bet to avoid

The Tie bet at 14.36% (8 decks). It looks tempting because it pays 8:1, but it's one of the worst bets in the casino — a pure sucker trap.

How the edge is computed

Computed from a full 8-deck deal with the fixed drawing rules: Banker wins ~45.86%, Player ~44.62%, Tie ~9.52% of decisions. Banker's edge after 5% commission ≈ 1.06%; Player ≈ 1.24%; Tie (pays 8:1) ≈ 14.36%.

Optimal strategy

There is no decision to make — you only choose Banker, Player, or Tie, then the cards play themselves by fixed rules. So the 'strategy' is simply: always bet Banker, never bet Tie. Card-counting and pattern 'systems' (the scorecards casinos hand out) do not work.

What to expect

Baccarat is pure chance with no skill element. Bet Banker and you face the smallest edge in the house; the elaborate roadmaps and scorecards are decoration, not an advantage.

Play it smart. Gambling is entertainment, not a way to make money — the house always has the long-run edge, and no system beats it. Set a budget you can afford to lose and stick to it.
