Transportation Options in Las Vegas
Airport Transportation
Harry Reid International Airport (LAS) is conveniently located just a few miles from the Strip. You can choose from rideshare services like Uber and Lyft, taxis, shuttles, or hotel limousines for your airport transfer. Taxis must follow a metered route, so it's wise to ask for the freeway or tunnel to avoid unnecessary detours.
Public Transit
The Las Vegas Monorail runs along the east side of the Strip, connecting key resorts from MGM Grand to Sahara. While it's a fast option, the stations are somewhat removed from the main Strip sidewalk and it does not reach the airport. The Deuce, a double-decker bus, runs the length of the Strip and to Downtown, providing a budget-friendly but slower alternative. The SDX (Strip & Downtown Express) offers fewer stops for quicker travel.
Walking and Accessibility
Walking the Strip is common, but be prepared for the distances and the heat, especially in summer. Pedestrian bridges are available to cross major intersections safely. Comfortable shoes and hydration are essential. For those with mobility concerns, consider the availability of rideshare or taxis for shorter distances.
Rental Cars
Most visitors staying on the Strip find that a rental car is unnecessary, as many attractions are within walking distance. However, if you plan to explore beyond the city, such as the Grand Canyon or Hoover Dam, a rental car can be useful. Keep in mind that many resorts charge for parking.
